While orlistat is under the scrutiny of the FDA, let’s take a look at what it really does for people who take it regularly.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/checkup/2009/09/is_that_right_alli_weight-loss.html

How does it stop the intestine from absorbing fat?

When the drug is in your system and you happen to unknowingly consume a fatty meal, start praying that you can find a clean bathroom near by.

The fat will be expelled from your system like kids flying down the water slides of Dorney Park.

Instead of having a parent around to give these overweight adults a slap for eating too many cookies in one sitting, the weight loss drug potty trains you to avoid overeating and fatty foods.

What do people really need? Not some miracle pill, but someone to instill discipline into them or give them a good scolding.

With the overweight bearing so many medical problems or soon to be difficult health conditions and diseases, the media and medical professional associates weight problems closely with sleep apnea.

It is certainly a vicious cycle because people who don’t sleep normally have a tendency to gain weight. Now with the weight gain, sleep apnea is harder to fix.

Bottom line is that losing a bit weight by becoming more active, and eating right is good for the body and your overall health. (Adding on sleep apnea that can be cured by losing weight is not going to motive any one.) Do it for yourself because everyone deserves to live a normal life.

It is a bit ironic to conduct an obesity study at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Fighting obesity shouldn’t be a science as the article can be summarized in two points.

The key idea to take away from the article is to eat healthy food that are not bland and detestable to your taste buds, otherwise you are prone to dieting failure. Dieting does not mean chewing on 3 leaves of iceberg lettuce while you watch someone dine on rib-eye steak.

Engage your dieting in moderation and consistency, then you are more likely to succeed in the long term.

Many of us struggle with weight loss because of poor body image. Even when the scale shows us losing 10 pounds after several weeks of changed eating habits and a more active lifestyle, our heads are still filled with negative thoughts that we are not perfect. And then we regress into the old self who ate their fair share of ice cream and junk food.

The truth is that no one is perfect. Otherwise magazine wouldn’t have to retouch photos to make celebrities on covers thinner and healthier looking.

Be realistic, don’t go back to the old destructive self because you don’t see yourself as perfect. It takes a lot of hard work to lose even a few pounds, your heart, body and mind appreciates all that you have achieved.

Continue with your weight loss goals, and throw out the distorted body image you have of yourself.

Don’t worry, you are not alone. Each and every year, weight loss is ranked amongst the top 3 of all New Year’s resolutions. While it is great to be concerned about getting healthy at the start of a new year, you will definitely fail. Statistics indicate a 92% failure rate of all New Year’s resolutions.

Please don’t fall into the category, oh let’s get start tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow. If you have any common sense about fitness or dieting, you can start immediately right now.

If you are still waiting after the New Year to start losing weight, you will have already lost 5 days of working out, cutting down calories, and learning habits to replace bad habits. The important thing is to take action, and stop waiting for the perfect day, or even the next hour.

Be serious about it, do it now and do it with consistency! Stop thinking about all the what if’s, because it will never come to those who wait.

There’s an alarming number of fatter male children of immigrants compared to natives. It notes the factors that of soft drinks, fast food, and junk food that contribute to the rise in bulk.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2009/09/04/ST2009090400697.html

What the study fails to note is that immigrant kids are often left unsupervised at home to eat whatever they can find, and junk food is easily edible, while their parents are working till ten at night. Also being transitioned from one country to another, creates a prison environment in the home where they have nowhere to go after school.

To say that “extra weight is a sign of prosperity” is irresponsible and sheer ignorance. No one ever wants to be an overweight kid who are often the butt of jokes, and teasing. This is true for every culture.

Dealing with loose skin is a common issue amount dieters who successfully lose weight. However, many of the issues regarding skin flab stems from losing too much weight too fast resulting in the skin not having enough time to regain its elasticity.

As a rule of thumb, plastic surgeons always suggest that clients wait two years after some kind of drastic weight loss before entertaining the idea of plastic surgery to remove the excess skin. This allows the skin to go back to its original form in due time.

Before entertaining corrective loose skin surgery, please gain as much knowledge as you can about your skin (the biggest human organ), and excessive body fat percentages.

http://www.bodyfatguide.com/LooseSkin.htm – dealing with loose skin without surgery

To eliminate and prevent the droopy appearance of the remnants of excess body fat during and following weight loss, without resorting to surgical procedures, you must change your body composition, not just lose body weight. That means paying particular attention to the ratio of your body fat to muscle, or lean body mass. Preventing loss of lean body mass while dieting to lose body fat will dramatically improve your appearance.

So, the answer to your question is, yes, anyone can non-surgically reduce skin folds of excess body fat, provided they follow the body composition and energy balance numbers until the job is done right…and if anyone else doubts you and tells you it can’t be done because they didn’t do it, ask to see their body composition and energy balance numbers. After they scratch their head, you can explain it all to them!

http://www.slimgirlsecrets.com/blog/how-to-eliminate-loose-skin-without-surgery/ – few truths and factoids about loose skin

Human skin is an extremely elastic organ, which means it can grow and shrink with you.

Pinch the skin on the back of your hand and note the thickness of the fold. There’s practically no body fat there. Now pinch the skin on your belly or any other trouble area. Is the fold as thin as the one on the back of your hand? If not, then your problem isn’t loose skin, it’s excess body fat under the skin.
